Mitchell Schwartz, OT, Browns
Offer: 5 years, $38 million
Mitchell has been with the Browns since he was drafted as a rookie in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, starting right off the bat. He's gradually improved in his time in Cleveland and is one of, if not the, best tackles on the free agent market this year. In a league where pressure is coming from both sides, your right tackle is just as important as your left. We'll pony up a big offer, and hope he comes back to Cleveland.
Jaye Howard, DE, Chiefs
Offer: 4 years, $38 million
After a stint with the Seattle Seahawks, former fourth round pick Jaye Howard burst onto the scene in 2014 for the Chiefs and never looked back. He improved even further in 2015, establishing himself as a respectable player in the league. Adding him to the mix with incumbents Desmond Bryant and Danny Shelton would vastly improve the defensive line.
George Iloka, SS, Bengals
Offer: 4 years, $24 millionThe release of Donte Whitner leaves a hole at strong safety. Iloka is younger and probably better than Whitner at this point in time. And the best part? He'd be slightly cheaper if he were to accept this contract. Did I mention he also plays for a division rival?
Robert Griffin III, QB, Redskins
Offer: 3 years, $18 million
The maligned RG3 was released by the Redskins last week, and is now on the open market. The Browns are desperate for a quarterback and this year free agency is a viable option. Even if we were to sign Robert, we would still likely add a quarterback in the draft, albeit probably not in the first round. Griffin was electric in his first year in Washington and should come at a cheap price. I preferred Robert to Broncos QB Brock Osweiler because he'll come much cheaper and his upside is way higher in my estimation.
Ladarius Green, WR/TE, Chargers
Offer: 3 years, $12 million
Green was stuck behind Gates for most of his stint in San Diego, but when he was on the field it was clear he belonged. One of the most athletic tight ends in the league, Green could become a force if given the opportunity and environment. Green is very young, turning only 26 years old in May, so not all hope is lost for him. If we signed him, I'd like to use him as a hybrid player, moving him into the slot receiver position while also playing some tight end to spell Gary Barnidge.
